2019 Swimming Carnival

Date: Thursday 7th February 2019

Venue: Richmond Pool

Start time: 8.45am (approx.)

Cost: $5 Bus / $5 Entry = $10 Total (to be paid in cash on the day at school)

What to bring: Swimmers, towel, sunscreen, hat, house colours and plenty of enthusiasm. Students are to wear either sports uniform or house colours. Thongs must not be worn on the buses, enclosed shoes only.

Additional Information:

·       On the morning of the carnival, students will attend school for roll call. They will then be directed to buses for transport to the pool from 8.10am

·       Competitive swimmers wishing to arrive early at the pool to warm-up, must inform Ms Stefan by Wednesday 6th February.

·       Students may compete in as many events as they wish, with the potential to achieve the “Overall Age Champion” Award for swimming. If students are not a competitive swimmer, they may choose to simply participate in the “free swim” at the conclusion of the carnival.

·       A professional DJ is supplied for the carnival to create a fun and relaxed atmosphere, and to provide a dance and entertainment space for students not engaged in swim activities. Basketball and touch football games will also be organised for non-swimmers.

·       Parents and Caregivers are welcome to attend the carnival to provide encouragement to their children, but are asked to refrain from approaching officials directly. Any issues or judging discrepancies throughout the day are to be directed to Ms Stefan, the Carnival Organiser.

·       Students wishing to leave the pool at the conclusion of the carnival at 1.00pm will need to bring a signed note from their parents or caregivers to Mrs Smith (HT Admin) by Wednesday 6th February. Students will then receive their Carnival Early Leavers Pass at the pool on the day of the carnival. Students must be picked up from the pool, they cannot walk home.

Please Note: Active supervision of all students on the day will be undertaken by qualified staff. If your child should be kept away from the water due to an inability to swim. Please inform the PDHPE faculty immediately.
