Colo High School Non-Operational

Colo High School Non-Operational

Dear Parents and Carers,

This is not the email I wanted to send you all on a Thursday night. I apologise for the late message, but I have been waiting to get confirmation from SES about the predictions for tomorrow. We wanted to be certain with our decision and see if there was any way we could remain operational.

Colo High School will be non-operational for onsite learning on Friday 8th April 2022. This means all staff and students are required to stay at home. The last thing we want is to try and evacuate our students without parents or cares able to collect them from the site.

I am so sorry we are ending the term this way and this was not an easy decision to make. I apologise for the recent impact on our community and families and are hopeful Term 2 will give us some reprieve from the extreme weather and constant rain we have been faced with.

Learning resources are available from the department’s Learning from Home Hub to support educational continuity. All students should be able to use their device to access online lessons. There are also resources available at: https://education.nsw.gov.au/teaching-and-learning/learning-from-home

There will be disruption and cancellation of most transport services. Check transportnsw.info or local council websites for further information.

We encourage you to follow the directions from emergency services and to avoid driving or playing in flood waters.

The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff remains our priority.

For the latest information and advice on the weather conditions and warnings by visiting NSW SES or call the Public Information Inquiry Centre on 1800 227 228 for general enquiries.

Call NSW SES on 132 500 for emergency assistance in flood and storms.

I am hopeful that our community stays safe and the water does not rise as predicted. Thank you for your co-operation and support at this time. Stay safe and try and have a restful break over the holiday period.

Regards,

Tara Cullen

(R/ Principal)
