Dear Year 9 Families, Schools recognise that not everyone wants an academic pathway. For that reason, the Hawkesbury High Schools have combined to launch a new pilot program aimed at assisting students who are looking to transition out of school into the workforce/ trades to gain the necessary skills and industry exposure to enhance their employability while they complete their Year 10 Record of School Achievement (RoSA). The program has been developed to: build strong relationships with TAFE and industry sectors ensure students are workplace ready while still providing an academic pathway to achieve their RoSA and importantly, increase the completion rate of apprenticeships and traineeships. The program will give students: three days compressed curriculum at school, one day at work experience, and one day at TAFE undertaking selected courses. The information evening will answer parents' and students' most pressing questions such as: “How can I still get a RoSA if I’m only at school 3 days a week?” "How does a compressed curriculum work?" "What are the expectations regarding attendance and behaviour?" "Can I remain at school after Year 10 if I change my mind?" The Information Evening will be hosted at Hawkesbury High School on June 17th at 6 pm. This program is for Year 10 students in 2026 only and a really exciting opportunity we can't wait to launch next year. We encourage our families to call the school should they have any questions and we hope to see lots of families attend on the night. Regards, Tara Cullen (Principal) & Alana McNair (Careers Advisor)
