Visual Arts at Colo - Education Week

8VAPL1 making surrealist dessert bowls. Each piece required an element of fun, whimsy, juxtaposition and transformation. Every piece is unique to each student and is a product of their creative process.

The class have learnt a range of ceramic skills across the unit such as attention to detail, how to work from a 2 Dimensional design to a 3 Dimensional form. Students had to consider the complexity of their ideas and master a range of ceramic hand building techniques to achieve a complex sculptural form with function.

All the students were challenged by the materials and the results are incredible. Their teacher Mrs Mountain said this is the most complex task she has given a year 8 class and was pleased they eagerly arose to the challenge. The pieces will now dry and be put in the Kiln to harden and students will then to apply their design with coloured glaze to decorate and add a waterproof layer to seal the surface so they can use them at home.

Our Year 12 photography class are getting ready to submit their final portfolio for their HSC and the results are second to none. Mr Ebsworth has been guiding students to present a professional portfolio of images that reflect their understanding of the subject they have studied for the past two years and take with them a body of work worthy of a professional photographer. The Year 12 Photography HSC portfolio images  will be featured on the new display screen at the front of the art building. Additionally, several pieces have been selected to take pride and place around the school on permanent exhibition.
